Présentation de l'éditeur
German and French concepts of nation were often defined
antithetically– through an idealized contrast between the “nation
state” and the “cultural nation.” This study undertakes a
political, linguistic, and literary historical reconstruction of
the significance of language and literature in the construction
of national identity since the early modern period, revealing
that this process was far more complex than previously
thought.
